My CEO insists on using Outlook instead of the GroupWise client. How can I make this work?
Prior to GroupWise 7, this was very cumbersome and was quite limiting in functionality. Yes it could be done, but it was a little clunky and definitely not supported.
The best answer is to upgrade to GroupWise 7 which has full Outlook support. High maintenance users can stick with their familiar mail client and also enjoy most of the features normal GroupWise users have been taking advantage of for years.

What are the best new features in GroupWise 7? There are a lot of cool new things in GroupWise 7, but the WebAccess component is by far the best. The functionality is almost identical to the regular client, and it has a very modern, streamlined look and feel. Since it's web based, it's light, convenient, and simple to use.
Another cool new feature is that it can run with Microsoft Outlook as the front end client. Now users that insist on using Outlook can have the familiar Outlook interface while taking advantage of the regular GroupWise functions that make GroupWise so powerful.

Is GroupWise 7 Worth It? In a nutshell, Yes. Past version of GroupWise have consisted of minor upgrades to the client and some new features on the back end that most people don't see.
GroupWise 7 completely redefines the end users' GroupWise experience. The client has been completely reworked. It has a new, modern look. It has advanced calendaring features that blow other products out of the water. It can be customized to work the way people work. It has a familiar look and feel to it that non-groupwise users can relate to.
Additionally, the GroupWise 7 WebAccess component is amazing. It is crisp, clean, and can do almost anything that the fat GroupWise client can. Some people might not be able to tell the difference between the two. It doesn't have the 'clunk' that goes along with most web applications. And it can be accessed from anywhere in the world. |
We're a Windows Shop. Can we run GroupWise without NetWare? Yes, Absolutely! GroupWise can easily run in a "Windows Only" environment. Unlike other email packages, GroupWise is cross platform. So you can take your pick. Run it on Windows, Linux, NetWare, or a combination of the three. It really doesn't matter. Even if you don't have a Novell NetWare server, and you never plan on having one, GroupWise will run in your environment just fine.
